Erenna™ System Case Study

Expanding the Limits of Diabetes Research

Diabetes is one of the top health issues today, affecting over 20 million Americans, or 7% of our total population. It is estimated that over 6 million Americans may not even be aware that they have developed the disease.

Diabetes is a complex disease with genetic, metabolic and lifestyle factors. This is further complicated by compound risk factors, including obesity and heart disease. Studies in animal models are becoming increasingly important for unraveling the genetic and environmental components of the disease.

The application of the Erenna Immunoassay System, which uses single molecule counting, towards this problem greatly enhances the realm of possibility for researchers working with mouse models of Diabetes. The Singulex Mouse Insulin Assay, utilizing the Erenna Immunoassay System, can accurately quantify as little as 30 pg/mL of mouse insulin from as little as 5uL of plasma from a single fasting mouse, enabling long term monitoring and efficient pre-clinical study design.

Results of this study will be presented during an upcoming poster session at the ADA 68th Scientific Sessions, to be held at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, CA.
